In the next few posts, I'll be writing on a series of different mediums on one of my favorite animals, the Orca, or Killer whale.
I was tasked in writing a 10–15-page research paper for school, and, trying to find something interesting enough, chose to write on the hunting strategies and dynamic if this incredible ocean apex predator. What I found was amazing, so much so that I dove deeper into the topic really than I really needed to, especially into the conspiracy and controversy surrounding multiple trainer killings in captive settings.
In this three-part series, I'll first publish my entire science dissertation on the hunting and preying habits of the killer, followed by the unedited publication of some of the notes I took on the documentary Blackfish, which focuses on the debate of Orcas in captivity, and lastly, I'll publish my own thoughts on the film, the message behind it, and a full summary of everything I've learned throughout my research.
